Westinghouse Electric Company, Hyundai Engineering & Construction and Bulgaria’s Kozloduy NPP - New Build signed the Engineering Services Contract for two AP1000® reactors to be built at the Kozloduy site. 

A total of 249 projects focused on renewable electricity production and energy storage, valued at nearly 526 million Bulgarian lev (about 268 million euros) will be funded through Bulgaria’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NPVU), the government said.

Officials in Bulgaria said that the country's Chiren underground gas storage facility has reached 100 per cent of its technical capacity, fulfilling the EU regulation requirement for member states to reach at least 90 per cent capacity by 1 November each year.

Bulgaria’s nuclear expansion took steps forward this week as the company Kozloduy NPP - New Capacities extended its engineering contract with Westinghouse to continue work on the construction of two new nuclear reactors at the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant site.

The European Commission announced the allocation of 65 million euros from the EU Modernization Fund to support Bulgaria’s GREENABLER project, that aims to support the development of the country’s power line infrastructure to facilitate the integration and distribution of electricity generated from renewable sources.
