A new security assistance package to Ukraine, which was announced in Washington on Tuesday, includes additional missiles for previously transferred air defense systems, ammunition for HIMARS, as well as IFVs, armored personnel carriers, artillery rounds, and other weapons.

The White House and the Pentagon made the relevant statements on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The package includes key capabilities," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told a press briefing.

In this regard, she expressed gratitude for "the bipartisan support of Congress, which has made this aid [sending additional weapons to Ukraine] possible."

Meanwhile, the Pentagon outlined the content of the new security assistance package which includes additional munitions for NASAMS, Stinger man-portable anti-aircraft systems, ammunition for HIMARS, Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems, 155mm and 105mm artillery rounds. In addition, the US will send Ukraine 15 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, 10 Stryker armored personnel carriers, TOW anti-tank missiles, more than 22 million rounds of small arms ammunition and grenades, demolition munitions for obstacle clearing, tactical secure communications support equipment, spare parts and other field equipment.

“The United States will continue to work with its Allies and partners to provide Ukraine with capabilities to meet its immediate battlefield needs and longer-term security assistance requirements,” the Department of Defense stressed.

As reported, the Biden Administration announced last week a new $2.1 billion security assistance package under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
