Ukraine defense officials explain ways to deal with Russian military hardware wreckage
That’s according to the defense ministry’s press service, Ukrinform reports.
"Enemy military hardware wreckage is collected and sorted at approximately 80 locations across Ukraine. Before the defense ministry experts arrive for inspection, the damaged units undergo examination by bomb squads," the report reads.
The further fate of what’s left of the damaged equipment depends on its actual condition.
While inspecting them, the experts of the Ministry of Defense, together with consultants, check whether the unit can be used as a spare parts donor for the relevant equipment in service with the Ukrainian Army, showcased as a museum exhibit, or can it become a museum exhibit or part of exhibitions, or disposed of as scrap in line with the specified procedure.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, in January-September 2023, the volume of ferrous metal scrap procurement in Ukraine amounted to 878,000 tons against 830,000 tons reported for the same period last year.
