Following a tense period on the border with Lebanon, amid continued attacks by the terrorist organization Hezbollah, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) apologized for a strike which harmed soldiers from the Lebanese army. Meanwhile, the US reportedly estimates the fighting in Gaza will last at least until the new year.

The IDF spokesman in Arabic, Lieutenant Colonel Avichay Adraee, announced a tactical pause and released urgent instructions for residents of the Gaza Strip, calling on them to avoid certain areas due to ongoing battles.

"The Salah al-Din Axis constitutes a battlefield, so it is extremely dangerous to reach it," Adree said in a statement posted on X.

Lieutenant Colonel Yochai Gur Hershberg, from Philip Farms, a commander of the Missing Persons Locating Unit in the Fire Brigade Division 98. He was killed in a military traffic accident in the south of Israel, and was 52 years old at the time of his death.

The IDF spokesperson for Arabic media, Avichay Adraee, released a detailed call for residents in certain neighborhoods of the Gaza Strip to evacuate to shelter areas.

"My wife Sarah and I send our condolences from the bottom of our hearts to the families of those murdered in the attack in Jerusalem. We all pray for the wellbeing of the wounded," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement posted on X.

"The quick reaction of two fighters and a civilian who eliminated the terrorists prevented an even more serious attack. I salute them," he added.

"All Hamas terrorists are at death's door - in Jerusalem, Gaza, Judea and Samaria - everywhere," the prime minister stated.

"I appreciate the fact that both fighters and the civilian acted quickly on the ground. The government I am heading will continue expanding the distribution of weapons to citizens. This is a measure that proves itself time and time again in the war against murderous terrorism," he announced.

The body of Ofir Tzarfati was identified, it was disclosed on Thursday. The 27-year-old engineering student had attended the Nova Music Festival and was kidnapped to Gaza, following the October 7 massacred led by the terrorist organization Hamas.

The Tzarfati family had been informed last month that Ofir was kidnapped at the music festival. Eyewitnesses said he appeared seriously wounded, so they weren't sure if he was alive or dead. He attended the music festival with his girlfriend and a group of friends.

The Kiryat Atta municipality, where Tzarfati lived, confirmed that he is not alive.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Thursday at the temporary truce between Israel and Hamas has produced results, during a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

Blinked added that Washington was focused on helping to secure the release of more hostages abducted, and held in Gaza, by the terrorist organization Hamas.

"We have seen over the last week the very positive development of hostages coming home, being reunited with their families. And that should continue today. It's also enabled an increase in humanitarian assistance to go to innocent civilians in Gaza who need it desperately," Blinken said.

"So this process is producing results. It's important, and we hope that it can continue," the Secretary of State added.

Both Blinken and Herzog condemned the shooting terror attack in Jerusalem.

Jerusalem terror attack: 2 terrorists identified as former security prisoners affiliated with Hamas

The Shin Bet internal security agency stated the two terrorists from the Jerusalem shooting attack were former prisoner and affiliated with Hamas, and identified them as follows.

Murad Nemer, 38 years old, a resident of east Jerusalem, and identified with Hamas. He was imprisoned between 2010-2020 on the background of intentions to carry out terrorist activities from the Gaza Strip.

Ebrahim Nemer, 30 years old, a resident of east Jerusalem and Murad's brother. He was imprisoned in 2014 for terrorist activities and identified with Hamas.

Jerusalem Mayor: Citizen and soldier response prevented a bigger disaster

"This is a very serious attack that was carried out at the entrance to Jerusalem. I send my condolences to the families of those murdered and wish a speedy recovery to the injured," Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon said in a statement.
