At least 20 educators who associate themselves with the UN refugee agency for Palestinians in Gaza have used public platforms to legitimize the atrocities, the IMPACT-se institute reveals. Former lawmaker says Israel must end cooperation with agency.

At least 20 teachers from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, have praised and glorified the terrorist attack carried out by Hamas terrorists on October 7 since the events, according to research conducted by the Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education
(IMPACT-se), which examines content in education systems in many countries worldwide.

"The examples we gathered of UNRWA teachers supporting the massacre are numerous and they cross genders and geography," the report says. According to the findings, a teacher in Gaza named Ataf Talab, whose Facebook profile background features pictures of members of the Hamas' al-Qassam Brigades, expressed on October 23rd a wish that "God will destroy the enemy and the Jews." An English teacher from UNRWA in Gaza named Asmaa Rafiq Kuheill posted on her Facebook account on October 7, saying "7th October 2023! Sculpture [save] the date!", which is a phrase commonly used ahead of joyful events.

An UNRWA workers writes on social media that Oct. 7 is "a glorious morning."

Ranoosh Salah, who identifies herself on her Facebook page as an UNRWA worker living in Rafah, wrote on October 7:" This is an unforgettable glorious morning." Additionally, words of praise for the massacre were heard at a rally held in the courtyard of a UNRWA school in the West Bank. Furthermore, a UNRWA document was found in one of the vehicles belonging to Hamas terrorists on October 7.

A UNRWA teacher wrote on October 7th: "It's a glorious and unforgettable morning."

According to the research institute, the revelations of UNRWA teachers' support for the massacre illustrate the failure of the agency to train its teachers not to engage in incitement, especially on social networks. "UNRWA provides training for teachers in the field of social media. However, instead of addressing the issue of antisemitism and support for terrorism, these training sessions focus on teaching Palestinian teachers how to minimize exposure on social networks through guidelines for privacy," the institute said.

According to sources in the institute, few participate in these workshops because some of the educators refuse to take part and even boycott them.

Former Knesset member Einat Wilf, who investigated the UNRWA issue, said, "The findings of this report once again prove that UNRWA is committed absolutely to the Palestinian 'Right of Return' agenda, which denies the right of the Jewish people to have a state anywhere between the river and the sea. On October 7, we saw what it looks like when trained murderers implement the ideology with which they were educated all their lives. If we want a different future, a radical change in Israel's attitude towards the organization is necessary this time."

She added, "Unfortunately, Israel was UNRWA's chief lobbyist in Western capitals for decades, under the mistaken assumption that it is an organization contributing to moderation and has no alternative. In practice, it is the opposite. In areas where UNRWA is most active, such as Gaza and Lebanon, and where the culture of 'refugeehood' is strongest, violence is most prevalent." According to Wilf, "The connection between the Palestinian 'right of return' idea and terrorism is  75-year-old. Therefore, there will be no change, neither in Gaza, nor in the West Bank, nor in east Jerusalem, as long as UNRWA continues to provide international legitimacy to the permanent refugee idea and the Palestinian 'Right of Return.' Israel needs to declare the end of its voluntary cooperation with UNRWA and remove the organization from any place where it operates. Only then can one imagine a life other than perpetual warfare."
