The Kan public broadcaster's selection committee decided that the Israeli entry to the Eurovision Song Contest will be called "Hurricane".
The song will be based on the melody of "October Rain", which was disqualified by the European Broadcasting Union. Unlike the original version, which dealt with the national crisis and the war in the country, the new song is about a young woman emerging from a personal crisis.
Earlier Sunday, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation has "for the past few weeks" been making the necessary adjustments to allow Eden Golan to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest.

On the advice of President Isaac Herzog, Israeli organizers have decided to adopt the changes proposed by the EBU that will allow Israel to send its representative to the prestigious competition in May.

Herzog is said to have stressed that especially at this time – when calls to boycott Israel are record-high – it is vital for the country to participate in global events.
Eurovision is hosted by Sweden this year after the victory of Laureen's "Tattoo" in Britain. The Grand Final will take place in the Malmö Arena on May, 11 with the first and second semifinals on May 7 and 9 respectively.
