Ahmed Barkhat and Mohammad Hawashin were targeted while driving a vehicle. Barkhat carried out the Homesh shooting attack last May, in which Meir Tamari was murdered and Hawashin was commander of the PIJ network in Jenin.

The two were planning terror attacks against Israeli civilians before being eliminated. On March 11, the two organized a bombing attack in central Israel, an attack that was thwarted by security forces. They also directed the March 8 attack on IDF forces near the Homesh junction, in which seven soldiers were injured.
Two additional terrorists were also killed in the attack.
