Israel reportedly strikes Iranian targets in Syria; casualties reported

The conventional wisdom is that the strike aimed to hit a weapons shipment in Iran's "weapons corridor" destined for Hezbollah, but Israel has not confirmed that.

An Israeli airstrike near the city of Homs in central Syria has left one person killed and five injured, Syrian sources have reported online. The strike is believed to have targeted two locations in the Homs area. Al-The Hezbollah-linked outlet Al-Mayadeen television reported that an Israeli missile struck a truck in the city of Al-Qusayr in the Homs governorate. The conventional wisdom is that the strike aimed to hit a weapons shipment in Iran's "weapons corridor" destined for Hezbollah, but Israel has not confirmed that.

The Syrian opposition media also reported explosions heard around Homs with at least on person, potentially linked to Iran, assassinated, and another injured. There were also reports of 4 terrorists killed in Lebanon following an Israeli strike in Naqura, just north of the Israeli Kibbutz Rosh Hanikra.

Meanwhile, on the 227th day of the war with Hamas saw Israeli commando forces advancing in the Rafah area in the southern Gaza Strip, while other forces in the northern part raided the Jabliyya refugee camp near Gaza city, where they encountered terrorists in close combat who fired anti-tank missiles at them. The forces eliminated them with the help of aerial support. Earlier on Monday, sirens sounded in Sderot and the surrounding area, with two rockets fired toward the city. Prime Minister Netanyahu met with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in Jerusalem to discuss the ongoing Gaza war, with a focus on Rafah. They also addressed humanitarian aid for Gaza residents, efforts to recover captives, and the situation in the northern front.

Defense Minister Gallant told Sullivan, "We are committed to expanding the ground operation in Rafah to dismantle Hamas and freeing the captives." Gallant presented the adjustments Israel has made to evacuate the population from the Rafah area and provide a proper humanitarian response. The Israeli military continued operations, including strikes by the Air Force on Hamas targets and armed operatives. Ground forces from the Paratroopers and Golani Brigades engaged in combat in the Jabaliya area, uncovering weapons caches and eliminating terrorists.
