Ukrainian, German defense ministers discuss supply of IRIS-T systems, ammunition
According to Ukrinform, Umerov shared the details on his Facebook page.
During their meeting, Umerov and Pistorius "discussed specific steps that Germany and Europe can take to strengthen Ukraine's position on the battlefield."
"Air defense remains critically important. We talked about the possibility of accelerating the delivery of IRIS-T systems and ammunition, which are key to protecting our cities and the front lines," Umerov said.
He said that both sides had "also explored the prospect of joint air defense production projects, which would be an important step toward strengthening European security."
"Another priority is armored vehicles and their maintenance. Equipment must be repaired quickly and returned to service to support our troops," Umerov added.
The minister also said that working with European companies was an "essential area of cooperation." "We are ready not only to procure what is necessary for defense but also to engage in joint production," he said.
Furthermore, the two sides "discussed financing for military aid in 2025 and increasing support both bilaterally and at the EU level."
Umerov thanked Pistorius, the German government, and the German people for their steadfast support and willingness to take new decisive actions.
