Injury toll from Russian attack in Dobropillia rises to 40, including six children

The number of people injured in a Russian attack on Dobropillia in the Donetsk region on March 7 has increased to 40.

The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"As of 14:00, the number of those injured as a result of the evening combined attack by the Russian Armed Forces on the residential areas of Dobropillia has risen to 40," the post said.

According to the report, the victims sustained blast and shrapnel injuries. Among the injured are six children, and 11 citizens have lost their lives.

A pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office on charges of a war crime (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The final number of victims and the extent of property damage are still being determined.

The press service of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in the Donetsk region reported the case of Civil Protection Sergeant Vladyslav Hostiev, who, despite being off duty, rushed to rescue people after the missile strike on Dobropillia's residential quarters. He was killed as a result of a subsequent, treacherous strike.

"On March 7, Russian occupiers delivered a devastating strike on the city's residential quarters. Vladyslav Hostiev, a sergeant in the civil protection service and firefighter-rescuer of the 52nd fire rescue unit, was at home during his off-duty time. Upon hearing the first explosions, he immediately rushed to help the victims. But a subsequent shelling ended his life," the report said.

On the evening of March 7, Russian forces launched a massive combined attack on Dobropillia. According to preliminary reports, the enemy struck the city with Iskander-M missiles, Tornado-S multiple rocket launcher systems, and Geran-2 drones, resulting in 11 deaths and 33 injuries.
