OIC envoys briefed on South Asia tensions, reaffirm support for Pakistan

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, briefed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Group of Ambassadors in New York on the evolving security situation in South Asia, highlighting India's recent provocative actions.

During the session, Ambassador Iftikhar expressed concern over what he described as India's politically motivated, irresponsible, and provocative behaviour, warning that it poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability.

The OIC ambassadors expressed full support and solidarity with the government and people of Pakistan. They stressed the urgent need for de-escalation through diplomatic dialogue and called for addressing the root causes of regional tensions, particularly the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

The envoys reaffirmed their commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN Security Council and OIC resolutions, emphasizing the importance of upholding international law and protecting the rights of the Kashmiri people.
