Gunfire, explosions spark panic in Lahore amid Indian drone attacks

Panic gripped parts of Lahore on Thursday as sounds of gunfire and explosions were reported in the Walton and Burki Road areas, following a wave of Indian drone attacks on multiple Pakistani cities.

Initial reports indicated heavy firing in the vicinity, which lies close to the eastern border with India. Eyewitnesses described confusion and fear as security forces engaged suspected aerial threats.

Earlier, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed that India had launched coordinated drone strikes overnight on cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Attock, Bahawalpur, and Karachi.

In a press briefing, DG ISPR stated that Pakistan’s air defence systems shot down 12 Indian drones at various locations. “Our forces remain on high alert and responded effectively to Indian aggression, inflicting significant losses along the Line of Control,” he said.

He condemned the attacks as a serious violation of Pakistan’s airspace, noting that some drones deliberately targeted civilian areas and mosques. “This is a grave escalation, and Pakistan reserves the right to respond with full force,” he warned.

One civilian was martyred in Miano, Sindh, due to a drone crash, and four Pakistani soldiers were injured near Lahore.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, urging residents in affected areas to stay cautious and follow official advisories.
