Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asserted that Pakistan has delivered a historic response to India, claiming the country has finally avenged the 1971 war and warning the Modi government to think carefully before initiating any future attacks.
Speaking at a ceremony to distribute financial aid to families of those martyred during recent Indian aggression in Azad Kashmir, PM Shehbaz stated that a war had erupted just days ago, one that could have escalated into a major crisis with devastating consequences. He blamed India for using the Pahalgam incident as a fabricated excuse to accuse Pakistan and launch an unprovoked attack.
Despite Pakistan’s offer for an international investigation into the Pahalgam incident, India proceeded with aggression, which led to the martyrdom of 33 Pakistanis. In response, PM Shehbaz said Pakistan exercised its right to self-defense and downed six Indian fighter jets, delivering a powerful military retaliation.
Emphasizing the precision of Pakistan’s response, he noted that instead of targeting civilians, the armed forces aimed at Indian military assets, effectively reminding India of its limits. “The Modi government will now think a hundred times before attempting another act of aggression,” he said.
PM Shehbaz revealed that the counterattack was planned and executed on the morning of May 10, following a decisive conversation with the army chief, who displayed immense confidence and determination.
“It was resolved that India would receive a blow it would never forget,” the prime minister stated, calling the swift retaliation perhaps the shortest war in history. He lauded the army chief for leading from the front and praised the military for debunking the myth of Indian conventional superiority.
Concluding his remarks, PM Shehbaz said India had been forced to retreat, and now was the time for Pakistan to unite and move forward with strength and resolve. He attributed the nation’s success to divine blessing and the courageous leadership of the armed forces, reaffirming the people's unwavering support and faith in the military.
