Islamabad - A high-level political delegation headed by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will arrive in New York on June 2 on an official visit aimed at projecting Pakistan’s narrative against India in a recent military clash between both countries in the aftermath of Pahalgam attack.
The other members of the delegation include PPP Senator Sherry Rehman, Federal Minister Musadik Malik, PML-N senior leader Khurram Dastgir Khan, former Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, former Foreign Secretaries Jalil Abbas Jilani and Tehmina Janjua. The delegation will spend two days in New York where they will meet UN officials as well as international media. The delegation will arrive in the US capital on 3rd June where they will begin their official meetings on 4th June with US congressmen, think tanks, Washington-based American and international media as well as several meetings with different segments of American society at Pakistan Embassy.
The Pakistani delegation was announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif 2 weeks ago to present Pakistan’s viewpoint on Pakistan-India conflict and to counter Indian propaganda. The Pakistani delegation will meet US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the US State Department, where the delegation including Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Rizwan Saeed Sheikh would brief America’s top diplomat on reasons behind the India-Pakistan military clash and security situation in South Asia. Another high-level meeting of the Pakistani delegation would be with the senior officials at the National Security Advisor’s office. The delegation would interact with various Washington-based think tanks including universities. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh would also host a reception in the honor of the Pakistani delegation at Pakistan Embassy, which is expected to be attended by prominent Pakistanis, diplomats, scholars, journalists, as well as US officials.
