PM Shehbaz praises armed forces for role in Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during his visit to Command and Staff College Quetta on Saturday, commended the Pakistan Armed Forces for their pivotal role in Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, calling them the “guardians of national sovereignty and integrity.”

Addressing senior military officers, the prime minister stated that Pakistan not only responded to Indian aggression but effectively reversed the narrative. He recalled India’s targeting of civilians after the Pahalgam incident and praised Pakistan’s firm and appropriate response.

He also extended a warm welcome to officers from allied nations, noting that their presence signifies Pakistan’s robust diplomatic and military partnerships.

Shehbaz Sharif lauded the military’s performance throughout the operation, attributing its success to the leadership of Field Marshal General Asim Munir. He reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering support for its armed forces, saying, “The government and the people stand shoulder to shoulder with our military.”

The prime minister noted that Pakistan accepted ceasefire proposals from the United States and other friendly countries in the interest of maintaining peace and stability in South Asia.

Addressing economic matters, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted successful negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a key factor in stabilizing the national economy. However, he stressed the importance of grassroots-level structural reforms for long-term progress, adding that the economy is now heading in the right direction due to the government’s determined efforts.

He also remarked on the resilience of both the armed forces and the nation during recent tensions with India, saying their morale remained high throughout.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister arrived in Quetta for a one-day visit, where he was received by the Acting Governor, the Speaker of the Assembly, and the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sarfraz Bugti. He was accompanied by federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Attaullah Tarar, and others.
