AED-PKR exchange rate stable at 76.44 amid steady remittances

The UAE Dirham (AED) is currently trading at 76.44 PKR against the Pakistani Rupee (PKR), reflecting continued stability in the currency market amid positive economic trends and steady remittance inflows.

According to the latest market data, the buying rate for AED stands at 76.67 PKR, while the selling rate from banks and exchange companies is around 77.25 PKR. These rates, updated daily at 8:00 AM PST, fluctuate slightly throughout the day based on interbank and open market movements.

The exchange rate stability is largely attributed to strong remittance flows, particularly the $3.1 billion remitted from the UAE in February 2025, along with improving economic conditions in both Pakistan and the UAE. For Pakistan, this consistency is crucial, especially for the more than two million Pakistani expatriates residing in the UAE who send money back home.

Currency experts note that while the UAE Dirham is pegged to the US Dollar at a fixed rate of approximately 3.67 AED/USD ensuring minimal volatility the Pakistani Rupee follows a managed floating exchange rate, making it more sensitive to domestic factors such as inflation, trade deficits, and foreign exchange reserves.

The current rate provides reliability for remitters and businesses, especially importers and exporters dealing in food, clothing, and construction goods between Pakistan and the UAE. Analysts believe this balance enhances investor and consumer confidence.

However, caution is advised. Market observers warn that external shocks, such as global oil price shifts or geopolitical tensions, could impact the Dirham indirectly through its US Dollar peg, potentially influencing the AED-PKR rate.

Overall, the stable exchange rate is viewed as a positive indicator for Pakistan’s economic resilience, with remittances continuing to play a central role in supporting the currency and maintaining foreign exchange reserves.
