Ramstein: Umerov, Latvian counterpart discuss strengthening Drone Coalition

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov discussed strengthening the work of the Drone Coalition with Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds during a meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues of Ukraine in the Ramstein format.

According to Ukrinform, Umerov announced this on Facebook.

“Started work in Brussels — within the framework of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting (Ramstein format) and the Ukraine–NATO Council session,” Umerov said.

He reported that he had “held a meeting with Latvia’s Minister of Defense, Andris Sprūds — a reliable friend and ally of Ukraine.”

According to Umerov, “We focused on strengthening the work of the Drone Coalition, where Latvia is one of the leading countries. Agreed on the next steps to enhance its effectiveness.”

The Minister of Defense said that he emphasized the importance of unity of action to achieve a just peace and stop Russian aggression.

He expressed gratitude to Latvia for its active participation in all key initiatives to support Ukraine.

Umerov also thanked the Latvian Defense Minister for the substantive conversation, strategic vision, and unwavering support for Ukraine.

As reported, on June 4, Brussels is hosting a meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues of Ukraine, which brings together the efforts of about 50 countries providing military assistance to Ukraine. On June 5, the Ukraine-NATO Council will meet at the Alliance headquarters at the level of defense ministers.
