Deadly bus crash in France: two college lecturers from Bukovyna among victims

Among the Ukrainians who died in a fatal accident in France were two lecturers from the Kitsman Vocational College in Bukovyna.

This was reported to a Ukrinform correspondent by the director of the institution, Ivan Biliar.

"Yes, two of our lecturers died in that accident in France. They were Oksana Horoshova, the Deputy Director for Administrative and Operational Affairs, and Valentyna Makydon, a lecturer in veterinary and animal husbandry disciplines. The students who were with them in the accident are now on their way home," said the head of the Kitsman Vocational College.

According to him, the train carrying the college students involved in the accident is already in Vienna, and they are expected to arrive in Chernivtsi on Wednesday morning, June 18.

"French doctors have kept eight students in the hospital until they fully recover. The remaining 38 students, accompanied by two adults, are heading to Ukraine. They have all been provided with free meals on their return journey. A psychologist and another doctor from France are accompanying our students," Biliar explained.

He also noted that the transportation of the bodies of the deceased Ukrainians is still being arranged.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on June 13, a bus carrying Ukrainians was involved in a traffic accident in the Sarthe department of France, near the town of Le Mans, resulting in the deaths of four people, three of whom were Ukrainian citizens.

The bus was carrying 46 students and five lecturers from the Kitsman Vocational College of Podillia State University, who were returning home to Bukovyna after a student exchange program.
