The Perseids, a trail of debris from Comet Swift-Tuttle, are expected to peak around 5:00–6:00 A.M., with up to 100 meteors an hour visible under favorable conditions. Dr. Yigal Pat-El said the desert offers the best viewing conditions, and that no telescope is needed – only patience and a dark sky
