Poland is closing its eastern border to freight vehicles registered in Belarus and Russia from June 1 until further notice, the interior ministry has said.

The European Union has adopted its ninth package of sanctions against Russia, stepping up pressure on the Kremlin to end its war of aggression in Ukraine.

Poland’s prime minister on Friday warned that Russia sought to create a major energy crisis in Europe. 

Following Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, almost 1,000 global enterprises have pulled out of Russia.

Officials in the United States have said Washington has an understanding with Berlin about shutting down the controversial Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea if Russia invades Ukraine, news outlets have reported.
