Local production of medicines covered 29% of drug sales in Romania in the first six months of 2024, an analysis by market research company Cegedim shows.
Medicine sales went up by 15.5% in the first quarter of 2024 from the year-earlier period, to RON8.15 billion, as retail sales rose by 14.4% and hospital consumption increased by 22.5%, in line with a report by consulting company Cegedim.
Romanians bought medicines worth RON26.8 billion (EUR5.44 billion) in the period April 2022 – March 2023, at wholesale prices, 20% more than in the year-earlier period, in line with a report of consulting company Cegedim.
The value of medicines prescribed to patients in Romania in the October 2022-September 2023 period reached RON28.7 billion (EUR5.8 billion) at wholesale prices, up 16% from the year-earlier period, in line with Cegedim data.
Romanians used medical drugs worth RON19 billion (EUR3.9 billion), at wholesale prices, in the period July 2020-June 2021, 10.6% more than in the year-earlier period, Cegedim research showed Wednesday.
