Location: Zoom A symposium sponsored by the Stanford History Department and Stanford’s Another Look Book Club Cambridge historian Peter Mandler will chair "Aspects of Britain," a symposium featuring discussions of William Morris by Elizabeth Miller; Bloomsbury and Virginia Woolf by Regina Marler and Marielle O’Neill; and George Orwell by John Rodden and Christopher Angel. These are the scholarly interests of Stanford’s Peter Stansky, Frances and Charles Field Professor of History, Emeritus. (Pictured.) The symposium honors the occasion of his 90th birthday. Elizabeth Miller is a distinguished William Morris scholar; Regina Marler has written extensively on Bloomsbury and Virginia Woolf. Marielle O’Neill is doing pioneering work on political aspects of Virginia Woolf. John Rodden has published ten books on George Orwell. Christopher Angel, an eminent figure in the film world, is writing the script for a George Orwell movie, based on Peter Stansky’s work. The event t...
