In de nacht van zaterdag op zondag zijn meer Israëlische troepen de Gazastrook binnengetrokken, meldt een woordvoerder van het leger. Hamas zegt dat er zondag "zware gevechten" zijn tussen de gewapende vleugel van Hamas en de Israëlische strijdkrachten.

De Israëlische krijgsmacht voert zware bombardementen uit op de Gazastrook. De communicatie met delen van het gebied is uitgevallen. Het zouden volgens Hamas de zwaarste bombardementen zijn sinds het begin van de oorlog. Die bewering kan nog niet onafhankelijk geverifieerd worden. De Israëlische landmacht breidt zijn operaties op de grond in de Gazastrook vrijdagavond uit.
