Hurricane Milton intensified to a Category 5 storm Monday as it passed through the Gulf of Mexico, and follows a strike from Hurricane Helene last month.
The bad welds are not on components that would impact ship safety or operations, but the Navy said it is reviewing at least 23 potentially impacted ships.
The effort will help companies fund the construction and equipment needed to scale production of technologies the DOD deems critical to national security.
