Italy’s Senate approved the base text of a bill that would allow bans on antisemitic rallies and codify the IHRA definition into law, sparking debate over free speech and protest.
While the Brazilian government has not officially confirmed the withdrawal from IHRA, the move has been confirmed by various anti-Israeli Brazilian groups.
“The events of Oct. 7 have tragically proven us right. There cannot be a debate on antisemitism without looking into the completely biased criticism of Israel that we often see,” Meyer said.
Although 73% of US Jewish college students have experienced or witnessed antisemitism since start of the 2023-2024 school year, only one university has adopted the IHRA working definition in 2023.
