Chikli appreciated the requirements "for naturalization to affirm Israel’s right to exist and Jewish life in Germany" in order to "to exclude antisemitic individuals from obtaining German citizenship
Chikli said that while his ministry appreciated the statements and condemnations issued by California politicians in response to such incidents, he felt that proactive steps were needed.
Chikli argued that the "progressive left" and "radical political Islam" were the chief instigators of antisemitism today, but that their ambitions extended "well beyond to the rejection of Zionism."
