Today marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s history — the inauguration of the Islamabad–Lahore Motorway (M-2), the country’s first-ever motorway, opened on this day in 1997 by then prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who now serves as the Quaid of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
