New Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar has stated that Ukraine has the right to defend itself by all available means and must receive strong security guarantees – unlike those provided under the 1994 Budapest Memorandum.
Future security guarantees for Ukraine must be reliable and real, not a "paper tiger" like the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, according to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that giving up nuclear weapons in exchange for the signing of the Budapest Memorandum was "absolutely stupid, illogical, and very irresponsible".
The sky over Ukraine needs to be closed, at least in view of our nuclear power plants, but fears of Russia outweigh the determination of the West, in particular of the guarantors of the Budapest Memorandum.
