President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a shift in Germany’s stance on Ukraine’s NATO aspirations, stating that Berlin now supports Ukraine’s future membership in the Alliance.
The delegates to the Congress of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SDPP) overwhelmingly rejected the resumption of natural gas supplies from Russia via the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines.
Germany has already transferred a quarter of its available Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine and cannot provide more from its own stock. However, Berlin is actively seeking to acquire such systems from partners for subsequent delivery to Ukraine.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that Germany, Britain, France, and the United States have removed restrictions on the use of long-range weapons delivered to Ukraine.
Germany and Europe will continue to support Ukraine to prevent Russia from completely destroying the peace and security order on the continent and in the world.
Germany will continue to help Ukraine defend itself against the aggressor while at the same time strengthening its own defense capabilities, as Russia poses a threat to all.
