The local administration has temporarily banned the entry of tourists into Murree following heavy snowfall, authorities said on Friday.

LAHORE - With snowfall forecast in Murree, Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman on Tuesday directed the district authorities and relevant departments to remain on alert to prevent disruptions and ensure the safety of tourists.

The District Police Officer (DPO) Murree has enforced Section 144 to ensure the safety of tourists and maintain law and order ahead of New Year celebrations.

A spokesman for the traffic police said that more than 53,000 tourist vehicles had entered Murree so far, compared to its capacity for only 5,000 vehicles.
