Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) was back up after facing a brief international outage on Thursday afternoon, according to internet monitors. Shortly after 12pm, NetBlocks reported that X was “experiencing international outages”, adding that the incident was “not related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering”. Downdetector, which monitors internet outages in real time, showed a sharp spike in problems reported by Pakistani users soon after 12pm. Half of those issues pertained to the X timeline, with most of the rest complaining about the app. By around 12:45pm, the user reports had declined significantly for Pakistan to two from a peak of 189. Social media influencer Samiya Hijab on Monday agreed to withdraw her complaint in her alleged harassment and kidnapping case, with the court granting bail to the suspect. The suspect was arrested on September 2 and a case was registered in the capital’s Shalimar Police Station at her complaint under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 365 (Kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 392 (punishment for robbery), 500 (punishment for defamation), 509 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code. He is currently on judicial remand.
