    Talos adds $45M to Series B with new backing from Robinhood, SonyThe Series B extension values the New York–based crypto infrastructure company at about $1.5 billion and includes backing from institutional investors. Digital asset infrastructure provider Talos raised a $45 million extension to its Series B funding round, valuing the company at about $1.5 billion. The extension included new strategic investors such as Robinhood Markets, Sony Innovation Fund, IMC, QCP and Karatage, alongside returning investors a16z crypto, BNY and Fidelity Investments, according to the company. "We extended our Series B round to accommodate interest from strategic partners,” said Talos CEO Anton Katz. Talos said proceeds will be used to expand product development across its trading, portfolio management, execution, treasury and settlement tools and to support tokenized traditional assets on its platform.     Sony doubles down on Soneium after first year of mainnet activitySony has added a $13 million investment to its partnership with Startale, signaling a longer-term infrastructure strategy, a year after Soneium’s mainnet debut. Sony Group Corp. made a follow-on investment in Startale Group, deepening its involvement in the Soneium blockchain about a year after the network’s mainnet launch. In a Thursday announcement sent to Cointelegraph, Startale disclosed an additional investment of $13 million from the Sony Innovation Fund. The funding round came after Soneium moved from testnet experimentation into live operation, allowing Sony to observe how the network performed under real-world conditions.  Data from Soneium’s public block explorer shows the network has processed about 524 million transactions since its mainnet launch in January 2025. Over the same period, Nansen data shows Avalanche and Algorand recorded 442 million and 383 million transactions, respectively. Transaction counts alone do not indicate user adoption or economic activity. Read more

    Sony Bank is reportedly pursuing a US license and partnering with Bastion as it develops a 2026 dollar stablecoin connected to its growing Web3 unit, BlockBloom. Sony Bank, the online lending subsidiary of Sony Financial Group, is reportedly preparing to launch a stablecoin that will enable payments across the Sony ecosystem in the US. Sony is planning to issue a US dollar-pegged stablecoin in 2026 and expects it to be used for purchases of PlayStation games, subscriptions and anime content, Nikkei reported on Monday. Targeting US customers — who make up roughly 30% of Sony Group’s external sales — the stablecoin is expected to work alongside existing payment options such as credit cards, helping reduce fees paid to card networks, the report said.
