ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has suspended the licence of Geo News for 15 days over what it called an "unacceptable religious depiction" in its Muharram programme Safar-e-Ishq.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN - Commissioner Muhammad Dawood Khan and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ghulam Mubashir Maken on Thursday monitored the main 9th Muharram mourning processions and reviewed security arrangements during visits to various Imambargahs and procession routes across the district.

Punjab Police remained on high alert across the province on the 9th of Muharram, deploying more than 70,000 officers and personnel to ensure the peaceful conduct of mourning processions and Majalis.

Mourning processions for the 9th of Muharram are being held across Pakistan today to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala, with security placed on high alert throughout the country.
