Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief Nawaz Sharif departed for Jati Umra after spending more than four hours at the Chief Minister’s House on 90 Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam in Lahore.

The intensity of the heatwave continued to increase in Lahore on Sunday as temperatures soared to 43 degrees Celsius, according to officials from the Meteorological Department.

LAHORE: A special court (central) on Tuesday granted interim pre-arrest bail to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s daughter, Rabia Imran and her husband Imran Yousaf in a money laundering case. The couple personally appeared before the court along with their counsel. Judge Ashfaq Ahmed heard and allowed the bail petitions of the couple, subject to submission of surety bonds, and restrained the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from arresting them till May 7. Last week, an accountability court had suspended the perpetual arrest warrants issued against the prime minister’s daughter and son-in-law in a case related to alleged irregularities in the Punjan Saaf Pani Company. LAHORE: A woman, accused of killing her three children a day earlier, was handed over to police custody on a five-day physical remand on Friday. On Thursday, the police claimed that three children who were found murdered at their house near Lahore’s Shah Jamal Colony were killed by their mother over estrangement with her husband. The investigating officer presented the accused before Judicial Magistrate Irshad Hussain on Friday and sought a 14-day physical remand so that evidence of the murder could be recovered. The IO further stated that the accused’s DNA, polygraph and other medical tests had to be conducted as well. However, the judicial magistrate granted a five-day physical remand. ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Monday took notice of what it called a “disturbing incident” regarding the filming of patients mid surgery at Lahore’s Lady Willingdon Hospital. The video in question, which was widely shared on social media, showed doctors performing what appeared to be C-sections on two patients in the same operating theatre, with a medical curtain in the middle. The person filming the video can be heard saying that a “competition was underway”. On Saturday, the Punjab government had suspended the medical superintendent (MS), head of the gynae department, a woman medical officer, five postgraduate resident doctors, two nurses, and a hospital staff member due to the incident. A Pakistan International Airlines flight en route from Lahore to Karachi was forced to head back shortly after departure following a bird strike, officials confirmed.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said on Sunday that the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) would go ahead sans spectators while matches would be held only in Karachi and Lahore in line with the government’s austerity drive.
