LAHORE: Police are still awaiting forensic and post-mortem reports to determine the cause of mysterious deaths of four members of a US-based family, including a woman and her three children, who were found dead in a rented house in Valencia Town two days ago. The deceased were identified as Aleena and her children Rehan (16), Aresha (11) and Arsal (6). According to investigators, the family had recently returned to Pakistan from the United States and had been living in a rented house. Police had taken Aleena’s husband Nasir Dogar into custody for questioning before releasing him after recording his statement on Saturday. Police quoted Dogar as saying that he had gone to the market and found his wife and children lying unconscious when he returned home. They were later pronounced dead. KARACHI: Police on Saturday said they have arrested a man over the alleged rape of a foreign woman in the city’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA). South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza told Dawn that the suspect has been arrested, a day after the Darakhshan police registered a first information report (FIR) on the woman’s complaint. DIG Raza said the woman was a medical assistant in cardiology in the United States. He added that she arrived in Pakistan on Nov 13, 2025 and was residing in Phase VI of DHA. Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed told Dawn that Darakhshan police brought the 49-year-old woman for a medical examination on Friday after she reported the alleged sexual assault. “Her samples have been collected for serology and DNA,” the police surgeon said. A man was arrested in Utah for stabbing a Muslim man multiple times and stated that he targeted the victim because of the victim’s religion, police said in court records on Tuesday. KARACHI: A high-level team formed by Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Alam Odho has launched an investigation into the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in Karachi’s Quaidabad, collecting DNA samples from over a dozen suspects from the same neighbourhood. KARACHI: Police on Monday registered a terrorism case against the driver of a van that crashed into a tent of mourners outside an imambargah in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) a day earlier. Three of the driver’s companions were also named in the first information report (FIR) registered on the complaint of the imambargah’s security head. According to police, at around 9.30pm on Sunday night, a Suzuki pick-up had rammed into a tent outside the imambargah where mourners were attending a Muharram majlis. The arrested suspect was named in a first information report (FIR) registered by the Jalalpur Bhattian police on April 30 on the complaint of the victim’s mother. The FIR also nominated two unidentified suspects. Constable Waqar Yousuf, a spokesperson for Hafizabad Police, told Dawn that the prime suspect was arrested last night in the district’s Tahli Goraya village. PESHAWAR: Police in the provincial capital allegedly resorted to firing and tear gas early on Tuesday to disperse a protest by tribesmen from Khyber district against a suspected quadcopter strike that killed a minor girl and injured six others. LOWER SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A police constable was martyred after unidentified armed men opened fire in the Wana tehsil of Lower South Waziristan district, officials said on Tuesday. According to District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Tahir, the attackers carried out a sudden assault in Mughal Khel village, leaving a constable, identified as Attaullah, critically wounded. PESHAWAR: Police repulsed an attack by unidentified militants, who targeted a police checkpoint in the Passani village located on the outskirts of Peshawar, officials said.
