  • Ethereum can quantum-proof accounts for just 7 cents, says Ethereum's Kohaku lead
    Cointelegraph.com - 13:49 Jun 14, 2026
Ethereum can quantum-proof accounts for just 7 cents, says Ethereum's Kohaku leadThe SPHINCS- proposal aims to reduce the cost of post-quantum signature verification on Ethereum while the network works toward a longer-term solution. Ethereum could begin adding post-quantum protections to accounts for as little as $0.07, without waiting for a hard fork, according to the Ethereum Foundation's Kohaku project lead Nicolas Consigny. In a Saturday X post, Consigny shared a paper proposing a cheaper way for Ethereum users to protect their accounts against future quantum-computing threats. The approach adapts SPHINCS+, a post-quantum signature standard developed by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology, to work more efficiently on Ethereum. Dubbed “SPHINCS-,” the proposal aims to reduce onchain verification costs without requiring a protocol change or precompile. Consigny described SPHINCS- as a bridge toward a future post-quantum signature system dubbed “leanSPHINCS,” which aims to further reduce verification costs through aggregation. Read more
  • Ethereum doubles down on privacy with new ‘Kohaku’ wallet ahead of Devcon
    CryptoSlate - 13:31 Oct 09, 2025
Ethereum is putting privacy back at the center of its roadmap. This November, during the Devcon conference in Argentina, the Ethereum Foundation will unveil Kohaku, a new wallet framework designed to let users transact without exposing unnecessary personal or transactional details. The project was introduced on Oct. 9 by Foundation developer Nicolas Consigny, who said […] The post Ethereum doubles down on privacy with new ‘Kohaku’ wallet ahead of Devcon appeared first on CryptoSlate.
  • Ethereum devs launch Kohaku roadmap to bring privacy, security to wallets
    Cointelegraph.com - 12:37 Oct 09, 2025
Ethereum devs have introduced Kohaku to enhance wallet privacy and security with modular tools, zero-knowledge recovery options and decentralized transaction handling. Ethereum developers unveiled Kohaku, a roadmap that aims to improve wallet privacy and security through a modular framework designed for developers and advanced users. The project, announced in a Thursday blog post by Ethereum Foundation coordinator Nicolas Consigny, outlines plans to build a set of privacy and security primitives for the Ethereum ecosystem. At its core, Kohaku aims to create a software development kit (SDK) for building secure wallet functions, and a reference wallet that demonstrates how these tools work in practice. The first version will come as a browser extension based on the Ambire wallet, designed for advanced users who want more control and privacy. Read more
