    Mystery surrounds why an OG burned $1M in BitcoinThe million dollar question is what prompted a Bitcoin OG to send 20 BTC to a custodian, retrieve it back, and then deliberately burn it? In March, someone moved $1 million worth of Bitcoin through a large crypto custodian. Three weeks later, almost exactly the same amount came back. Incredibly, less than two months after that, the Bitcoin was deliberately destroyed. The wallet had been dormant for almost 12 years before it suddenly sprang back to life. Bitcoin educator Bennet noted it sent 20.00010537 BTC to “a custodian of some kind” before receiving it back again (minus $3 or so). The mystery BTC transaction is part of a wider enigma surrounding 107 BTC burned in May, worth roughly $8.5 million at the time. Read more

Blockchain analytics platform Bubblemaps said 90 newly funded wallets bought 90% of Mystery (MYSTERY) memecoin supply at launch, raising concerns about coordinated sniping. The wallets were all funded by wallet "0x544E," which previously withdrew and distributed 20 Ether from crypto exchange Binance. After buying up 90% of the supply at launch, the wallet cluster sold about $100,000 worth of tokens and still holds 40% of the supply, said Bubblemaps in a Tuesday X post. The analytics company described the pattern as a “textbook scam.” Sniping refers to using bots or automated trading tools to buy newly launched tokens immediately after trading opens, often before ordinary traders can react.
