  • Researchers propose Zcash-style private Bitcoin transfers without a soft fork
    Cointelegraph.com - 04:41 Sep 25, 2026
Researchers propose Zcash-style private Bitcoin transfers without a soft fork Shielded Bitcoin would use zero-knowledge proofs and encrypted notes to hide transaction details without changing Bitcoin consensus, but researchers have raised questions about anonymity and quantum resistance. Researchers at the cryptography research firm Alloc Init have proposed a system for bringing Zcash-style private transfers to Bitcoin without requiring a soft fork.  The proposal, called Shielded Bitcoin, would conceal transaction amounts, senders, receivers and links to previously spent funds using encrypted notes and zero-knowledge proofs. The paper was published on Thursday by Clara Shikhelman, Mikhail Komarov and Aleksei Moskvin. The proposal offers a potential path to stronger privacy for Bitcoin users without requiring consensus changes to the base protocol. Read more
  • Bitcoin researchers target privacy coins with Zcash-style shielded transfers
    CryptoSlate - 02:10 Sep 25, 2026
Bitcoin researchers have proposed a system for private transfers directly on the network without requiring a soft fork or changes to its consensus rules. The Sept. 24 paper from [[alloc] init] researchers Clara Shikhelman, Mikhail Komarov, and Aleksei Moskvin introduces Shielded Bitcoin, a metaprotocol designed to conceal transaction amounts, senders, recipients, and links between transfers while […] The post Bitcoin researchers target privacy coins with Zcash-style shielded transfers appeared first on CryptoSlate.
