    Revolut attackers threaten daily customer data leaksAttackers reportedly published identity documents and selfies belonging to Revolut customers and threatened to release more data each day until the fintech pays. Threat actors who obtained sensitive Revolut customer information appear to have begun posting the information online and are threatening to release more data every day until “revolut pays.” The newly leaked information reportedly includes selfies and copies of identity documents belonging to tennis player Alexander Shevchenko and Gamdom CEO Felix Römer, CEO of online crypto casino Gamdom, according to an X post from International Cyber Digest on Sunday.  “We’re going to start releasing more and more data everyday until revolut pays for leaking their customers,” the attackers reportedly said on Telegram.     Revolut says customer data exposed through fake government emailPassports, selfies and financial transaction histories of some customers were revealed to a fraudster using a government agency domain. Financial tech and banking company Revolut released sensitive customer data, including copies of passports, verification selfies and full transaction histories after receiving a fraudulent request that seemed to be from a government agency.  Requests for customer information sent from a legitimate government agency email domain passed Revolut’s authentication checks, according to International Cyber Digest posting on X. Revolut later concluded they were not authentic, and customers whose information was compromised were notified on Friday.  A company spokesperson told Cointelegraph on Saturday that “Revolut recently identified a sophisticated external impersonation scam where an unauthorised third party utilised a legitimate government agency domain email to submit fraudulent requests for information.” Read more

UK-based financial company Revolut has received approval from the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) of Dubai to offer crypto-related services in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In a Wednesday notice, Revolut said that, following a green light from the Central Bank of the UAE for payment activities, VARA gave in-principle approval for the company to offer broker-dealer, management and investment, and exchange services in the UAE. The company said its services via the app and the Revolut X exchange would allow UAE-based users to buy, sell and hold digital assets. “This approval lays the foundation for Revolut to introduce its trusted virtual asset services within a regulated environment,” said Revolut’s head of digital assets in the UAE free zone establishment, Joseph Khair. The London-based company said Thursday that it submitted an application to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to establish “Revolut Bank US, N.A.” The company also appointed fintech veteran Cetin Duransoy as the company’s new US CEO. Duransoy brings more than two decades of experience in banking, payments and technology. He previously served as US CEO of fintech marketplace Raisin.
