The gala event of the CaseKey Business Case Competition 2024 sponsored by Byblos Bank Armenia took place from November 22-24 at the Dilijan Training and Research Center of the Armenian Central Bank. For the second year in a row, Byblos Bank Armenia served as the General Sponsor of the competition, which focuses on teaching practical knowledge. With Ucom's support, SunChild NGO has installed a solar plant with a capacity of 10.44 kWh at Kindergarten No. 2 in the Malishka village of Yeghegnadzor community in Vayots Dzor marz. The location of the kindergarten building, which was completely renovated in 2013, allows the maximum efficiency of the solar plant. The installed station will provide an opportunity to cover the entire cost of heating the kindergarten, as well as other electricity costs. Currently, over 50 children attend the kindergarten, but plans are underway to open enrollment for children aged 2 to 3, increasing attendance to over 80 children. Ucom announces the completion of the second phase of the 5G network launch: now the new network is operational in the cities of Akhtala, Berd, Ijevan, Maralik, Martuni, Sevan, Sisian, Tashir, Tumanyan, Alaverdi and Jermuk. The results of the 19th annual International Microelectronics Olympiad were summarized in Yerevan and the winners awarded for their achievements. Once again, Ucom was the main supporter of the event this year. The Olympiad is initiated and organized by Synopsys Armenia and held under the auspices of the RA Prime Minister, in cooperation with The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Test Technology Technical Community (IEEE TTTC). This year's Olympiad was conducted in two stages, with 332 participants from 16 countries, including the UAE, USA, Brazil, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Armenia, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Chile, Peru, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Vietnam, and France. The second and final stage took place on November 15, 2024, at the Synopsys Armenia Education Department. A solar power plant with a capacity of 10.44 kWh was installed for the newly built kindergarten in the Areni settlement of Vayots Dzor as part of collaboration between Ucom and the Sunchild NGO. The community kindergarten was built quite recently and opened in September of this year. From the outset, the building plans included provisions for a solar plant, and the Areni community approached Ucom and Sunchild for assistance with its installation. The newly installed solar plant, located on the kindergarten's roof, is expected to significantly reduce electricity expenses. Furthermore, if the facility transitions to electric heating, the solar plant’s output will be able to fully support these additional needs. The future military specialists will have much more opportunities for physical training. Military Sports Specialized Colleges named after Tigran Metz and after Aram Manukyan were furnished with modern sports equipment, gyms were renovated and heating system was installed. In order to organize transportation of students from home to the educational institution and back, 3 buses were also provided to military sports institutions. The program was implemented thanks to the financing from the benefactor Karen Vardanyan. The total budget amounted to 119 million drams.

On November 1, Ucom employees joined SunChild NGO and its partner, the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC), for their annual tree-planting initiative. Sunchild NGO cooperates with FPWC, which has been planting forests in Vayots Dzor region for years. This year it is planned to plant more than 100,000 trees, which were grown and cared for in nurseries. About 40 employees from Ucom spent a whole day as volunteers in the picturesque mountains of Gnishik settlement of Areni community in Vayots Dzor region and planted more than 2,000 trees. During the event, they also learned about the desert landscape restoration project, local environmental challenges, and future volunteer opportunities.
